Have a very Merry Christmas.

I spent my Christmas this year with my family and friends. It was filled with peace and happiness and a general aura of thankfulness as we all dwelled on the comforting truth that today was Jesus's birthday- the greatest miracle to have ever come on Earth. I do understand though that not everyone had happiness and festivity within their hearts this Christmas. In fact for many, Christmas was simply unaffordable, as the cost of living crisis still plundered through the lives of those living in Britain. And with all the chaos, calamity and crisis, it's a wonder how anybody could enjoy Christmas this year at all.

However, amidst the darkened clouds that seem to have buried our festive merriment this year, it should not be forgotten the true meaning behind Christmas: love. A love so great that a child was born; a saviour sent in the form of a baby to set us free with His everlasting, peace-keeping, all encompassing love.

You see because the purpose of Christmas is not to have a panoply of pretty presents underneath a tree, or a big turkey centrefold on the table, no: the purpose of Christmas is to remember a birth so miraculos, it changed the fate of the world forever. And what was the basis of this birth? Non other than God's beautiful love. So this holiday, let us let that love fill us with a joy that goes beyond our happenings, and delves deeper into a heavenly truth: that Christ was born and willing to die for us. And let us also remember the miracle that was his birth.

And alas let us not forget the simplest of truths: that we are alive and loved and worth it in God's eyes. May we all stay strong this season because I know that better days are coming. Let us not give up. Let us stay in love.

Merry Christmas everyone. I love you and God bless!

p.s am i the only one who finds the stained glass window portrayals of the nativity quite frightening? (shivers)
